1. Samsung Galaxy Note

The Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 represents all that’s terrible and all that’s exciting about the modern era of smartphones. The Note however was quite a hit with the business class users as it came off as a device that managed to offer substantial speed with its 1.4GHz Dual Core and a large enough display to get work done on the fly.

The Note has 16GB of internal storage and supports up to 32GB of microSD storage although it doesn’t come with a card in the bundle.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a huge device and as a result, whether you would want to buy it really depends on whether you are able to look beyond its size and bulk (although at about 180g, it’s not really very heavy). The Note also features plenty of video codecs built in to handle all format runs on Android Gingerbread with an ICS update on the horizon. The Samsung S-Pen or Smart Pen stylus can also be quite handy for both work and play or just jotting down notes.

2. Sony Xperia S

Sony’s latest high-end Smartphone in their Xperia range was only recently launched for India and is the first device launched under the Sony branding (minus the Ericsson). It has a 5 Megapixel camera 2592 x 1536 Pixels resolution with autofocus, dual LED flash and Geo-tagging, Touch Focus. Secondary Camera VGA, 0.3 Megapixel, 640×480 Pixels resolution. It’s the only phone running Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), and that’s the future. In many ways, this is the ultimate early adopter phone. The phone itself isn’t perfect; typically, Nexus phones aren’t the best hardware on the market. It’s very well built, with top-quality plastic around the back and sides with a nicely textured matte finish. I did miss the gradient anodized aluminum housing on the HTC One S, though. A prominent silver ring surrounds the camera lens on the back, and protrudes slightly, just enough that the phone tilts a bit when sitting flat on a table.

Calls sounded clear through an Aliph Jawbone Era Bluetooth headset, although voice dialing doesn’t work over Bluetooth, which is a pesky and unnecessary limitation. The speakerphone got very loud, but sounded tinny; at least it didn’t distort heavily. Battery life was solid, at 9 hours and 9 minutes of talk time while connected to LTE.

HTC adds a Car Mode, which displays a beautiful landscape home screen with large icons for easy access while behind the wheel. This includes the free Google Maps Navigation, as well as icons for making calls, streaming Internet radio, and calling up music tracks stored on the phone.

5. Motorola Droid RAZR

The phone is 5.2 by 2.7 by .35 inches (HWD), as compared to .28 inches depth on the older phone; basically, the whole handset is now as thick as the camera “bump” up top, smoothing the body out.

More importantly, like the Razr this is an extremely well-built phone—rock solid, with a water-resistant back, a steel core, and a Gorilla Glass display. The back panel has a black and gray pattern and feels slightly grippy; the front resists even greasy fingerprints. A door on the side panel hides the SIM and MicroSD card slots, and the phone comes with a 16GB card as well as an additional 16GB of internal storage.

The Droid Razr is superior for many reasons including better battery life, better physical materials, and better call quality and radio reception, for instance. That all outweighs the OS downgrade, although we wish we didn’t have to choose between the best hardware and the most current OS.

Sony Reveals 3D Bloggie Camcorder

Sony Electronics has an HD film camera – it’s a 3D HD film camera, called the Bloggie. Sony held their official CES press conference about, Bloggie 3D which displays media via a 2.4-inch 3D LCD screen without glasses, or with glasses on any 3D-capable television via HDMI connection. The video which is captured in 1920×1080 high-definition 3D, as well as the 2D MP4 videos and five-megapixel still photos are all recorded via two lenses and sensors.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Debut at CES 2011 – A BRAVIA Phone

Sony Ericsson has declared that it will unveil the new Xperia series handsets at the Consumer Electronic Show 2011, a new smartphone named Xperia arc that runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Xperia arc has a slightly arched back panel and is 8.7mm thin at its slimmest part. Sporting massive 4.2-inch display Xperia Arc would run Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread version.
Lots of praise for a start, right? It’s time to get into the details.

Xperia arc has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapgradon processor that will make Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread update with SE Timescape UI run zippier. There are also a bunch of Google Android Apps like Maps with Street View, Talk, Latitude, and more. At the back panel, Sony Ericsson has added 8.1-megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor that will allow you to shoot high-quality photos even in low light environments. This camera offers up to 2.46x smart zoom, has f/2.4 Aperture, Flash/LED, Face Detection, Geo-tagging, Image stabilization, Noise suppression, Touch focus, Touch Capture and Video Light. Internal phone memory is a mere 512MB but has an 8GB microSD card bundled. You can add up to 32GB microSD card.

The smartphone can be used for TV out though built in HDMI port. The XPERIA ARC Smartphone is integrated with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB support and loads of applications like Android Market Client, Google Search widget, and other major Google services.

Xperia arc would be available in Midnight Blue and Misty Silver colors. At this moment, there’s no word on pricing but it can be expected to be somewhat close to that of Xperia X10 when it was launched last year. However, this phone would be made available worldwide in this first quarter. So out of the new Xperia family phones, we already know the Xperia arc, Xperia Play and X10 Mini successors.

Plasma v/s LCD
For the money, plasma tends to beat LCD from a pure picture standpoint. Blacks are usually better, contrast is better, motion resolution is better, while the older issues like burn-in aren’t really problems like they used to be. The flipside of plasma sets are that they’re more power hungry, and they’re not as bright.

LCD sets, on the other hand, are brighter, thinner, less power hungry, and straight out cheaper. If you’re going for a set that’s under 42 inches, LCD is probably where you wanna go. The best kind of LCD TVs are LED backlit models that typically deliver better color, better blacks and better contrast, though they’re pricey than the average LCD.

No Fake & Real 3DTV:
Want to buy a set knowing that it’ll have excellent performance without having to do a ton of poking and prodding? Buy a 3DTV. The thing about 3DTVs, says HD Guru’s Gary Merson is that in order to do 3D competently, they “have to do certain things really really well.” 3D sets are, generally speaking, the best performing sets in the product line. So even if you never intend to watch a single piece of 3D content, it’s worth considering a 3DTV.

Because the set’s delivering different images for the left eye and the right eye it has to be able to switch the image it’s displaying “very completely and very fast,” says Gary. The end result is a TV with better processing power and better performance.

The main issue to look out for in 3DTVs is cross talk. Basically, when the image for left eye shows up in the right eye, or vice versa, and you see ghost images. Depending on how much cross talk there is, you might even see two distinct images. And when it comes to no crosstalk, plasma sets beat the LCD competition. In fact, when it comes to 3D performance, plasma wins overall.

What’s 1080p?
The dirty secret about 1080p is that you don’t need it if you’re TV’s not big enough and you’re sitting too far back to see it. If a set’s under 40 inches, you don’t need 1080p. The Lechner distance, named for this guy, is the optimal viewing distance at which your eye can fully process all the detail offered by an HDTV’s resolution. It scales, based on how big your TV is. For example: average viewing distance in an American home is 9 feet from the set. In order to fully see all of the details 1080p offers at that distance, you’d need a 70-inch set. So if you’re sitting more than six feet away from your TV or just buying a smaller set, considering saving some cash by going 720p.

Sony refresh its alphabet series of VAIO laptops with some seasonal upgrades. The 16.4-inch VAIO F series is getting a kick in the graphical department. Now, you can grab a GeForce GT 425M 1GB for a nominal $50 fee with a pair of standard-issue USB 3.0 ports to power some potent peripherals.

The Vaio L touchscreen all-in-one, meanwhile, is getting a Blu-ray burner at the $2,199, and both the VAIO EA and VAIO EB Series have access to 2.53GHz Core i5-460M and 2.66GHz Core i5-580M processors for $130 and $230 respectively, as well as ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics for a mere $100.

Our last post was about Wink E-Reader by EC Media, this time it’s Sony, refreshed it’s e-reader series like other technology companies, which starts from $179 to $299. Actually, Sony tweaked its entire Reader Family Series i.e. “Pocket, Touch, and Daily editions” by adding improved optical touchscreens, speeding up page turns with E-ink Pearl displays and slim brushed aluminum hardware.

Sony’s Daily Edition is available with WiFi, however others are not having this feature. Here’s Sony e-readers gadgets prices details:

Water Resistant Sony Walkman NWZ-W250 Series

Sony released a new water resistant, wearable Walkman “NWZ-250″. This tiny Walkman comes in both 2GB and 4GB capacity models, and apparently boasts an up to 11 hour battery life.

Weighing in at 43 grams and will be available in black, silver, lime green, and magenta. You’ll be able to pick up one (or more) of these later this month for $60. See the snapshot above.

Sony Vaio E Series Notebooks with Core i5 Power & Colors

Sony launched another new VAIO notebook by launching the VAIO E series. The 15.5-inch notebook is having extremely customizable designs & colors like bright, neon colors like “Caribbean green” and “hibiscus pink”, brown and silver etc. and all this available today with specification of:

Core i3 processor
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
and a CD/DVD burner standard

Just for $800. We also hear that there are other options coming soon, including Core i5 and Blu-ray upgrades that will be available starting Feb 7th.

The only disappointing thing is 3.5 hours battery life but otherwise the Vaio E looks to be a reasonably priced OK.

Few days before, we’ve showed you the leaked pics of Sony Jalou Phone. Now, We’re confirming with pic and details of sony’s Jalou mobile. Sony Ericsson launched the Jalou, a fashion phone for the fashion conscious.

The phone is a sleek clamshell model that could easily slip into tight pants. The phone is more of a fashion accessory so not too much to expect on the high tech features. Still the phone is loaded with some decent features. TFT screen with a resolution of 240×320 QVGA. The phone has another screen which is active when the flap is closed which is a monochrome LCD. The fashion interface updates itself automatically to the zodiac signs and latest fashion events across the world.

Sony Ericsson's Jalou

We have a very good Mobile Gadget leak this time. The handset is the Sony Ericsson Jalou. While we are not sure if the picture is legitimate , we are pretty sure the information about the device is correct.

The picture might just be another photoshop of a Sony Ericsson device like the W995 hence we are not sure about the picture. The Sony Ericsson Jalou is a full touchscreen phone like the Satio. The Jalou will run on Symbian OS S60 5th Edition. The other features of the phone include a 5 Megapixel Camera and GPS. Jalou is the device codename and will be renamed at launch. It may be positioned under the XPERIA category. We will give you more information on this device as it appears.

Sony Introduces PCM-M10 Audio Recorder

Sony Pcm M10 Audio Recorder

The Sony PCM-D10 will be the cheapest flash-based recorder from Sony capable of recording 96kHz/24-bit stereo audio using either the internal electret condenser mics or an external mic or line input. The recorder has 4GB of built in memory and a MicroSD/Memory Stick Micro slot. PCM-M10 is the first Sony flash recorder that lets you record in MP3 format. The PCM-D50 and PCM-D1 only record in WAV.

Difference between the PCM-D10 and PCM-D50 is that the new model features cheaper mics, preamps, and other components, although it is still made of metal, which makes this recorder more durable than some of the others on the market. The plastic mic jack doesn’t look nearly as sturdy on this model as the metal one on the PCM-D50 though. The Sony PCM-M10 is due out in October and will ship with a cope of Sound Forge Audio Studio Recorder Edition.

Sony recently launched the new Walkman W series Mp3 players for those who hate to be tangled in wires while listening to their favorite music on the Go. The Walkman can be comfortably plugged into your ears with a small cable behind the head which fits all sizes of heads- big or small. Weighing just 35 grams, the Walkman is available in five colors- black, white, pink, violet and lime. It features a 2GB storage memory. With no space for a display. A fully charged battery gives a music playback of upto 12 hours.

Also, a quick charge function allows the user to enjoy 90 minutes of music playback with a charge time of just 3 minutes. The Walkman can also be charged through a USB cable used for the music transfer. The ‘Content Transfer’ software included with the pack allows the users to transfer the music to the Walkman from online music services by simple ‘Drag & Drop’ feature.

The Walkman is peiced at Rs.4,990 in India and would be available at all Sony World and retail partners across the country.

The 12-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 ($250 as of 7/10/2009) has a 5X optical-zoom Carl Zeiss lens, starting at 28mm on the wide-angle end to 140mm on the telephoto end. It’s a bit thicker than many competing point-and-shoots, but still pocketable: about 4 inches wide, 2.5 inches high, and an inch deep.

The W290 has only ten scene modes, which is a low count compared with competitors in its price range, but that also means it’s bloat-free: You get all the essential and often-used modes, such as high ISO, Landscape, Snow, Fireworks, and Soft Focus. The smile-triggered shutter is pretty commonplace among point-and-shoots these days, but a few features in the W290 set it apart from other pocket cameras.

First and foremost is the range of creative image-editing features you get in this camera. Instead of applying “live” effects to your photos, many of these features can be applied after you take your shots: You can add fish-eye effects, radial blur, or red-eye correction, isolate one color in your photos while turning the rest of the image black and white and apply a “retro” effect that mimics a pinhole camera. On the bottom of the camera is the A/V-out port for transferring photos and movies to your PC, unfortunately, it’s a proprietary connector on the camera’s side of things, so you can’t swap in a mini-USB or micro-USB cable for that task. Another downside is the plastic battery door on the bottom of the camera–it feels as if it could snap off way too easily. Besides the battery itself, this compartment holds another proprietary item: a Memory Stick storage slot. (You don’t get a Memory Stick card with the camera).

The Cyber-shot W290 may not have the sharpest image quality in its price range, but casual photographers looking for a big display, ease of use, and good battery life will likely be pleased with it. Those looking for fun in-camera features and editing tools will be delighted.

Sony‘s new VAIO W is a notebook comes with 10.1-inch screen and 1.6GHz Atom running Windows XP on 1GB of RAM, with a nicer-than-usual 1366 x 768 screen, what we’re hoping is a typically-solid VAIO keyboard, and some sort of home media-streaming software called VAIO Media Plus, the W could be a big winner if it’s not crazy-expensive.

Sony has awarded two companies contracts for shipment of the PS3 Slim Edition which will start in July.

According to the news, the companies that won the contracts are Hon Hai and Foxconn with Hon Hai got the majority. All we know for right now is that the PS3 Slim edition will be slimmer and lighter. But it could be out by July or August.
