India is Developing its Own Operating System

Indian government is busy developing its own Operating System for computers, along with anti virus softwares. The India government has focused on the said softwares owing to the continual attacks on government sites and loss of data.

A lower level operating system and application software may be preferred to the advanced versions, which necessarily require access to internet for upgrades. The new software could be deployed in key departments that have been under constant cyber attacks.

No sensitive information will be stored on systems connected to the internet, while ministries and departments have been told to carry out regular IT systems audits. The government has also established a Crisis Management Plan against cyber attacks to be implemented by all central ministries, state governments and critical sectors.

Earlier CDAC developed an OS called BOSS, short for Bharat Operating System Solutions. The Indian Government has also invested in developing the famous $10 laptop, the ISRO Bhuvan, and a $200 million microprocessor.

Collins Cinema View 47inch LCD

Collins America is introducing the CinemaView LCD Display with a Mini DisplayPort for Mac computers. The CinemaView is available in two different models, in 24-inch and 47-inch screen sizes with both models having a screen resolution of 1920×1080. The 24-inch model includes a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and 300cd/m2 brightness while the CinemaView 47-inch model features a 4000:1 contrast ratio and a 500cd/m2 brightness.

Both LCD display will be available for 24-inch at $499 and the 47-inch at $1499. Along with the two new display the company also announced the CinemaView HD TV tuner with a Mini DisplayPort and four HDMI connectors. The CinemaView HD TV tuner will be available as of January 2010 for a price of $399.

EVGA has launched the InterView 1700 Dual-Monitor system which was released with the plan of targeting business users, since the monitor is ideal for business presentations, researchers, physicians, financial consultants or creative professionals. The Monitor System consist of two 17-inch LCD monitors that can be rotated 180 degrees vertically and folded 90 degrees horizontally. Both monitors has a 8ms response time, 500:1 contrast ratio and also comes with an integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam and three USB ports.

You have to wonder if the $99.95 pricetag makes this device worth it.
