The Apple iPad 2 has already been launched in the US and several other countries on March 25. Now, approx. 1 month later, it’s coming up in India as well. The new Apple iPad 2 is the successor of the popular Apple iPad Tablet. It is one-third thinner, lighter than the old iPad, more powerful with double speed CPU and 9 times speed GPU. Also comes with the latest iOS 4.3.

Apple announced that it’s mobile advertising platform is hitting the World this December. Revolutionary Mobile Advertising Network Will Launch in Europe with L’Oréal, Renault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier & Unilever.

French and British iOS users will get to enjoy being pestered by L’Oreal, Renault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, and Unilever next month, while their German counterparts will have their lives enriched in January. This follows on the heels of news that iAds is headed to Japan in early 2011, covering the biggest developed markets with glorious promotional material. Last year, we’ve posted the simple most expensive iPhone and this time, we’re revealing the world’s most expensive iPhone 4′s. Both these iPhone 4′s are designed by Stuart Hughes.

The diamond version, we’re having this in $19,514 , which features a shell that has been “encrusted with circa 6.5cts of top quality VVS , colour ‘F’ diamonds.”

Next is the gold model, it’s shell is made from pure 24ct. gold and is priced at $2,395.

Wow! iPhone 3GS Coming Soon to India?

We all are expecting iPhone 3GS (The Fastest iPhone Ever) will be launched in India on 24th March’10.

This handset will be locked with any network that provide the handset for a year or so, however it’s still not clear which service provider will choose Apple. We’ll update the prices very soon.

BTW, iPhone 4G is all set to hit the US market, however we’re still waiting to launch 3G in India barring with MTNL and BSNL.

Anyways, let’s hope, iPhone 3GS will launch in Indian market this month & we’ll enjoy the latest phone features.

Update: iPhone 3GS is available with Vodafone & Airtel connection so now it’s easy to buy with valuable network as well.

Mac OS X vs Windows 7 – OS Updates

Microsoft and Apple are fighting for mindshare of the consumers as both companies are roll out to upgrade their operating systems at the end of this year.

Apple showed Worldwide Developers Conference by Snow Leopard on Monday, the next main version of Mac OS-X. Apple has been very open about the fact an under-the-hood maintenance release, focusing on performance enhancements to the OS.

Windows-7 is basically Microsoft’s maintenance release for Vista, which according to many accounts was a failure for the company. “It’s really doesn’t matter the degree of the rewrite in the operating system. “The key is the consumer benefit.”

In early testing of Windows-7 its to bear out improvements in the operating system, Microsoft is coming with a very bad consumer experience with Windows Vista. That is not a minor obstacle for it to overcome.

Microsoft will fight with the industry perception that Windows-7 is just Vista with a few fixes. Which lead to slower adoption of the new operating system out of the gate.

Mac OS-X Leopard was a solid release, filled with features. Overall, Leopard had comparatively few problems throughout its life cycle. Apple on the other hand is coming off one of the most successful operating system launches in the company’s history.

Apple doesn’t have to fight off to negative perception from its users/the industry. Macs have been selling better than ever and there is no sense in slowing down anytime soon.

Apple sells its new OS for $129. That’s a flat fee. Everyone gets the same version that contain all features and enhancements. However, Leopard users will be offered an upgrade to Snow Leopard for $29. Microsoft is releasing its upgrade pricing, but it is expected to be much higher.

“The OS war is on in a big way,” Charging $29 won’t win Apple any converts, but Microsoft is going to look really bad with its upgrade pricing.

It’s obvious that Microsoft has a much bigger channel to push Windows-7 to customers, but we’ve seen with the Vista release that doesn’t always mean success for an operating system.

Apple is coming from a strong position with Mac OS-X Leopard, so its newest Snow Leopard release should be very strong.

Apple’s Snow Leopard is expected to dispatch in September. Microsoft will release Windows-7 in October.

An unverified rumor came from Chinese forum — but a set of specs for a upcoming Apple iPhone have leaked out along above mentioned screenshot. As suspected, iPhone model MB717LL 9 (“iPhone2,1″ perhaps?) will have a 600MHz processor (up from the current 400MHz unit), 256MB of RAM (from the current 128MB), 32GB of storage, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, as well as a digital compass and FM radio, all while retaining the same battery, basic shape, and screen size.

Update: Next week at Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference, the company will be unveiling its new iPhone, a device that will sport a built-in 3D graphics chip, operate on a new, higher-speed network and hit mid-July.

Economy slowdown and the popularity of cheap netbooks, Apple is “tailoring changes” that will “drive down prices” of the most accepted Mac laptop models.

Customers in the coming months can look forward to more affordable versions of both the 13-inch MacBook and iMac, according to people who’ve proven extremely reliable in predicting Apple’s future business directions. The MacBook — which presently begin at US$999 when fitted with a previous-generation polycarbonate enclosure and $1299 in an aluminum unibody casing — is the bestselling Mac in terms of volume. BTW, iMac is the most admired Mac desktop.

It’s believed that the first batch of more affordable Macs could turn up as early as this spring.

Mac laptop Industry Standard editor Ian Lamont predicted in December that Apple would terminate the iMac desktop line, because of the mass market’s move to low-cost, portable computers.

But Apple-watchers have known for months that Apple couldn’t possibly be ignoring the recession-driven shift in the PC market away from $1,000 notebooks to $300 netbooks. Acer chairman J.T. Wang has forecast that 1 in 4 laptops bought next year will be netbooks. Gartner’s more conservative forecast says that’ll be true in three years.

Steve Jobs said, “We don’t know how to build a sub-$500 computer that is not a piece of junk.” Cheaper Macs at this point are a given. What remains to be seen for fans is how Apple will redefine the idea of low-cost computer.

Apple’s 17-inch MacBook Pro with aluminum body is launched in India for Rs. 1,62,600.

The new 17-inch MacBook Pro with MacBook Air like non-removable lithium battery was announced at the MacWorld 2009.

The new 17-inch MacBook Pro has altered with non-removable lithium battery that promises an eight-hour battery life of integrated graphics and seven hours while using discrete graphics.

Features: It has 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 6MB L2 cache, Nvidia GeForce 9400M integrated graphics, 512MB RAM, and Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT discrete graphics. Apple offers upgrade option for updating CPU to 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo & memory up to 8GB RAM. Storage can be beefed up to 320GB 7200RPM HDD or a 128GB/256GB SSD.

There’s a price difference of Rs. 25,000 in the 17-inch MacBook Pro between the US price Rs. 1,36,000 approx. ($2800) and Indian price Rs. 1,62,600.

How to run iTune faster

I feel iTunes is the single slowest application on some PC’s. However, there are few ways to goose iTunes, to make it a little less pokey than usual. I’m not promising a dramatic speed increase, just somewhat more efficient operation.

First, turn off Genius by clicking Store, Turn Off Genius but that will delete all collected Genius data. It’s a neat feature, but this has been noticed that it seems awfully “busy” at times. Anything that’s demanding iTunes’ attention is also hurting its performance. I never thought it was that smart, anyway.

Second, click Edit, go on Preferences, Sharing, and then disable Look for shared libraries & Share my library on the local network. Whenever there’s ongoing network activity, you can count on a performance hit. Of course, if you are sharing your iTunes library, skip this step.

Finally, switch over to the Apple TV tab & disable Look for Apple TVs. It’s another case of superfluous network activity that can only hurt performance.

I’m sure Apple would do some fine-tuning in this regard.

New iPods in holiday season by Apple

Apple has announced that it has introduced a new range of iPods in India to coincide with the festive season. The new range varies from the 1GB iPod Shuffle starting at Rs. 2,300 to a 32GB iPod Touch at Rs. 21,100.

New Apple iPods

iPod Nano is now available in 8 colours such as silver, purple, blue, green, orange, yellow, pink, and black, it also sports a curved aluminum enclosure. It comes with the option of an 8GB or 16GB flash drive and holds up to 2,000 or 4,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format. When fully charged, music playback time is up to 24 hours & video playback time up to 4 hours.

The second generation iPod Touch is smaller and lighter and features a thin contoured metal design, a 3.5-inch widescreen glass display, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi wireless networking, integrated volume control buttons, built-in speaker and accelerometer and other advanced sensors.

It has options of 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB flash drive & can hold up to 1,750, 3,500, or 7,000 songs respectively in 128-Kbps AAC format and hold up to 10 hours, 20 hours, or 40 hours of video but when it’ll be fully charged.

The Touch has a music playback time up to 36 hours and video playback up to 6 hours.

The 120GB iPod Classic, with up to 36 hours of audio playback time and a 2.5-inch color display can store up to 30,000 songs, 150 hours of video, 25000 photos, or any in combination.

It has a music playback time up to 36 hours when fully charged and video playback time of up to 6 hours.

iPhone display into TV screen demo

Ars Technica has recently found some undocumented features of the SDK in the new iPhone 2.2 software.

The most interesting of these features is the MPTVOutWindow class. This class allows developers to output the iPhone’s screen to a larger screen, such as a TV, thereby taking advantage of its speakers and size. The user still uses the iPhone & its accelerometer to maneuver in a game such as Moto Chaser, which is shown in the demo. Check out the cool video….

The output is currently only 20 frames per second, while most commercial games are around 30fps. If the iPhone and iPod Touch can reach those speeds, it will be all the more better. All together, the whole development process to get this feature integrated into their game only cost the company about 3 hours of work, which was mostly due to XCode provisioning issues. They’ve got a built-in remote and mic — yet curiously aren’t compatible with the iPhone — and they come with three sets of interchangeable silicone tips for small, medium, and large ears. Well, $79 is the price tag for this.
