Another Tata Nano Fire Accident
See the picture and you can actually imagine the fact a new Tata Nano caught in fire.
Silver color Tata Nano No. = MH03-AW 913, with A/C and a power steering features, probably one of the top Nano model of worth 2.4 Lakh rupees burst on Express Express Highway at 3:45 pm on Monday, 22nd March’10.
Mr. Satish Sawant, an insurance agent, collected his brand new Nano car from Prabhadevi showroom and only after 45 mins, he saved himself from this accident when a motorcyclist told him about fire. Satish & his driver both jumped out the car.
This is not the 1st time, Nano is burning. Already 2-3 Nano cars have been burst. There are no comments from Ratan Tata yet but we hope to hear very soon from him or his team.
Now the questions arises:
- What about people safety?
- Is money less important than human’s life?
No doubt, we all are happy with cheapest car model produce in India but these types of accidents creating big questions on the reliability of Nano. What do you think people, share your views.

Which express highway is this Mr? I see someone has built his home/ office complete with fencing just beside it. Or maybe it was towed from the express highway or Express way as it is generally called while it was burning so that u could take a snap. Do not exaggerate things… show some factual report. Be sensible and responsible while doing such things.
Nano’s safety features have received independent validation from various experts. So any apprehensions raised regarding adverse safety features are perhaps figment of someone imagination and not based on any scientific studies.
Its is extremely saddening that even after contributing so much to really make India shine on a global platform, back home, it is the easiest to blame Tata’s capabilities for everything that is wrong.
Allegations and sensationalism have become the norm of any existence. Core motto is to just disrupt every belief, play with emotions and create ruckus. This incident is yet another creation of the nasty game of corporate upmanship and vested interest. Trust to come out with innovative assumptions and ideas to rake in publicity and disrupt NANO’s smooth run. Disgusting!
Pathetic story.. Instead of looking at the incident from only one angle, the author should have dug deeper to find out the “real” story behind this.
There are multiple possible reasons behind a car catching fire.. So firing at Mr. Ratan Tata might sound to be the easiest of the solutions, but is definitely not the best one..
Grow up Man unless u r some anti-Tata bugger
But why people post & do this type of accidents intentionally. Just to decrease the Tata OR Nano goodwill.
Tata Nano is really small and cheap car but the problem is safety. Not only fire risk but crashes as well. Only few airbags and that’s it
Hi Sumant,
Please stop this kind of childish game. Atleast, one has bothered about the lower middle class. Try to realise the dream of an average indian. Ratan Tata has done his best to uplift the lifestyle of the average indians.
The car is not moving. The door of the driver seat is closed.
Shame to write a blog like this. You are putting our dream on flames. What is your share of work for an average indian? Think positive.
1. No model of Nano has power steering, which proves that this article is one-sided.
2. As someone rightly pointed out in the previous post, this does not look like a highway or anything close to it.
3. The glass of the windscreen is on fire?????? or has it been broken?
4. Usage of the word “probably” tells a lot about the nature of reporting.
GET A REALITY CHECK!
First my personal opinion about catching fire may be politics in car manufacturers , due to jealousy and it already happend in cello car every one knows about the politics and LPG kitted create fear by petrol outlet owners same may happened in nano case .. we have to welcome like tata nano
My nano also caught fire. I give below letter written to them.
Dear Mr Bharathi Adiyar
Customer Relation Manager
This has reference to your letter No. 1-12076820393/1-12076655149 dated 31.3.2011.
We are surprised to find from the contents of your letter that the car was reported brake down and you have to tow the same all the way to your Kandivali workshop from Goregaon.
Please update your records that the car was catched fire and filled with smoke. Myself alongwith my mother, my wife, and daughter were trapped in smoke filled car and somehow people rescued us from the car.
Your Mr Shubhunkar told us that this car was not upgraded with modification to make it safe against fire. They have now fitted some new kit to safeguard the car, and there will not be any such incidence in future.
Please note that this car was repaired under name CAMPAIGN UPDATION FOR R-R OF FUEL LINE FILTER TO RAIL ON 5.8.2010.
In spite of upgradation to prevent car from fire, on 28.3.2011, the car catched fire. We were fortunate to escape from the burning car.
Myself and my family members are reluctant to use this defective Nano car in future.
You are requested to keep the car with yourself and refund our hard earned money including taxes, duties, insurance etc.
Hope you will do the needful and uphold TATA’s image.
Regards,
-ps sawant
